It was a wonderful turnout despite the cool weather.
The conditioning includes using stairs and running to build up stamina and cardio strength.
Coach Chris Van Eck is running a series of dry land conditioning clinics at the High School on Tuesday and Thursday nights, from 6:00pm to 7:00pm.
Hinsdale Central Varsity finished last year's season by coming in fourth in State. Last Spring the Varsity team played an exciting game against New Trier, losing 6-3.
Read about where the graduated seniors are going to College this Fall. Check the news link to get the details.
The date has been changed for photos to accomodate those Ice Devils who are playing Fall sports. We want all of our players in the photo!
Please mark Tuesday, November 17th from 4:30 - 5:30. Bring your jersey and your smile. These photos will go into the School Yearbook.
BRING BOTH YOUR RED AND WHITE JERSEYS.
No need for forms and money. These photos are provided for you with your registration fee.
Refs will be strict this year regarding the proper use of mouth guards. Here is one custom-fitted option which would be provided at cost:
Our Junior Varsity team also played well this weekend beating their first three opponents and then narrowly edged out 2-1 by Geneva in the Championship game to finish runner up.
A great way to begin the season ...... Go DEVILS!!!
Our inside sources caught our Varsity boys mentally preparing for the Lyon Township game. Traditionally, yoga and meditation has been the choice for many athletes but not our guys....
Or perhaps while they were resting they were planning the strategy that would win the Ice Devils the trophy three years in a row!
Both Varsity and Junior Varsity players have been given optional concussion helmets. These Messier m11 Helmets are priced at over $120 each and Coach Rodie was able to provide them to our players at no cost. Coach Rodie was able to solicit outside donations to the club so that our players would be better protected for games.
Dubbed The Messier Project, the former Rangers’ captain has created a new helmet called the M11. The M11 differs from typical helmets because it’s made from one plastic shell called the Mono 90. Most helmets are made from two pieces that can be adjusted to fit a player’s head. This means that the M11 does a better job of spreading force throughout the entire helmet. The helmet also contains padding using Seven Technology that does a better job at reducing impact — especially from multiple hits.
Messier said it’s important that the helmet looks “traditional” and the M11 definitely accomplishes this. It’s doubtful that people would be afraid of looking stupid in the M11 — unlike the Rawlings S100 in baseball. Currently, there are five NHL players wearing the helmet plus about 50 teams around the country including Harvard University
These helmets are optional and are for the players to keep. Cages have to be purchased for the helmets at your cost. We have asked our equipment supplier, Jerry's to provide us with the cages that fit the helmets. Jerry's has offered to come to our club and put on the correct cages for a cost of $35 - $40 each. If you would like to add this optional cage, we will let you know the date. We are hoping that it will be this week.
Thank you Coach Rodie, from all the players and families.
A dozen reasons why high school hockey is the best!
1. A National High School Hockey Tournament. Yes, this year, for the first time in any high school sport, there will be a national tournament here in Illinois and 24 states have signed on so far - and it's for high school hockey!
2. Your teammates are also your schoolmates. You instantly have a group of friends when you start high school.
3. Coverage in the local newspapers and in the school newspaper. No other hockey gets the coverage high school hockey gets unless you are a Blackhawk!
4. You earn letters and numbers for your letterman jackets.
5. The homecoming parade. Last year we even had the car with the principal in it!
6. All-star game. It is a real honor to be an All-Star on your high school team and recognized for your achievement.
7. Scholarships. HCHC offers scholarships as well as the Chicago Blackhawk Alumni Scholarship, which is only available to high school players.
8. It's cheaper than club, and you get a hockey bag too!
9. Your team picture in the Hinsdale Central yearbook.
10. The fastest growing high school sport in the country is Hockey. The fans are your friends at school, not just your parents.
11. You don't just play hockey, you play for your high school.
12. It's Fun! You're in high school and it's one of the best times of your life! High school hockey may be one of your best memories for the rest of your life! Don't miss the opportunity!
See you at the rink! Go Devils!
The ALL STAR GAMES were a display of great hockey. We are proud of our ALL STAR PLAYERS.

“Great moments… are born from great opportunity. And that’s what you have here, tonight, boys. That’s what you’ve earned here tonight. One game. If we played ‘em ten times, they might win nine. But not this game. Not tonight. Tonight, we skate with them. Tonight, we stay with them. And we shut them down because we can! Tonight, WE are the greatest hockey team in the world. You were born to be hockey players. Every one of you. And you were meant to be here tonight. This is your time. Their time is done. It’s over. I’m sick and tired of hearing about what a great hockey team the Soviets have. Screw ‘em. This is your time. Now go out there and take it.”- Herb Brooks, in “Miracle” (2004)
